Just 4h. by car from Barcelona. You find “Pirineo Aragonés”. Val d’Echo is a rich valley in the north part of Huesca (Aragon). This part of the country is completely green. People here are very proud of what they have and they like it like this. They take care of their villages. They have a deep love for their country. And the real thing it is that you will love this land.
It is been an isolate part during many years. They have their own language. And I think that’s reason enough to understand what this green and savage land means. This valleys mean a unique identity, a culture, a way of leaving. If you come here you will quickly notice, Val d’Echo means ENJOY NATURE.

BLUE FOOD

Subordan:
It is in the main square just entering to the village. They have menu, sandwich and tapas. The food is really good. There is a lot of people from the zone there (they are not very open at the beggining, but if you like to get involved sometimes you have to work the stone…)
Borda Bisaltico:
If you can manage to arrive to this camping and you have money enough to spend. You can enjoy traditional food from this incredible view. There is a menu that is quite well and the quality of the food used to be excelent.

BUTCHERY:
If you like meat you will love this land. The cow are free in this mountains. The sausauge are great, but the lamb it is fucking amazing.

ORANGE LEISURE

You cannot finish all the trekking and places of the Jacetania area.
You should get more info in the Tourist Center.
I highly recomend to visit “Selva de Oza”. It is the northern part of this Valley. If you like nature you will love this place. From there you can go by 3h walking to “Castillo de Acher” one of the big hills or maybe just stay in the river. You may go to Guarrinza nearby France (during the war people used to get out from Spain by this valleys).
You can see the Bisaurin (2.760m) or even if you are prepared try to reach the top of this big mountain.
There’s a lot of tradition of taking mushrooms from this mountains. You should know what you are doing if you want to eat them.
You should visit nearby valley from here:
Val d’Ansó, Ordesa & “El monte Perdido”… And just 100km more or less from Pamplona, and 2h. by car to Donosti.

LANGUAGE_AND_CULTURE:

One of the most amazing things from this place it is that they have their own heritage. Their own particular culture. There is people working hard to keep this like my friend father, writing articles in magazine (he has a street named like him in the village) or this man everybody knows Lera (sometimes you can hear them playing traditional music with Val d’Echo music band)

They work in different ways for the same idea. Keep the identity of this valley, full of history and reminds of their past.
